Geneva (Jennie) Minerva was one of nine children born to John Reason and Mary Melinda Scott Bell: Myrtle (Mertie) 1873, Irene (Ina) Maude 1876, Nellie Alice 1878, infant son 1880, Leroy (Penny) Ernest 1885, Herbert (Bert) Harrison 1888, Glen (Pup) Samuel 1892, Geneva (Jennie) Minerva 1897 and Laura Eugenia 1900.

Geneva (Jennie) Minerva Bell married Charles Logan Byers 31 Dec 1921 in Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa and they had a family of four children: Geraldine (Gerry) Illa 1922, Annabelle (Annie) Fae 1925, Robert (Bob) Logan 1928 and Morris (Tim) Wayne 1930.

Byers - Funeral services for Mrs. Jennie Byers, 68, who died Tuesday night at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines, will be held Friday morning, August 12, at ten o'clock at the Congregational church in Mitchellville. Mrs. Byers, whose husband, Chas. Byers, passed away June 28 of this year has been ill for several months with a heart condition, complicated by a serious diabetic ailment. She had been in and out of the hospital, and had been cared for at the homes of her daughters in Des Moines."

Byers. Mrs. Byers was born August 6, 1897, at Maxwell, and passed away at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines, August 9, 1955, at the age of 58 years, and three days. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. John Breen and Mrs. Caroll McCleary, both of Des Moines; two sons, Bob and Tim, at home; and five grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death on June 28 of this year. Interment was in the Mitchellville cemetery. - CARD OF THANKS - We again express our sincere appreciation to our friends, neighbors and relatives, who were so kind at the time of our bereavement. A special thanks to the ladies of the Congregational church, the Legion Auxiliary, and friends who fixed the lunch. Words alone cannot express our gratitude for all the kindnesses extended us.- (signed) The Family of Mrs. Chas. Byers."
