John Elmer Scarlett, 86 passed away on November 27th 2021 in Independence Missouri.

John was born on January 2nd 1935 in Bland Missouri to George and Laura ( Glandon) Scarlett. John was 1 of 11 children.

He lived his life to the fullest with the love of tinkering. He enjoyed coon and goose hunting with family.

Lawn care - if anyone knew John his lawn was a source of pride for him. Green, trimmed, weeded and shaped was his standard. He also collected anything he thought might be useful later on. John was also an avid car and truck lover. Passing on his passion to his grandson Jeff.

John served in the United States Air Force. He was also a member of the Teamsters Local 41, as a truck driver for Byers.

John married Sherry Evilsizer and they had many happy years together.

During this union they raised two sons. Later in life they also adopted two of their grandsons.

John was proceeded in death by his parents, 7 brothers and sisters, son Jeffrey Scarlett, grandson Nicholas Scarlett, Step grandson Brandon Myers and former wife Sherry.

John is survived by son John (Kimberly) Scarlett, Grandsons Jeff (Amanda) Scarlett, Jason Scarlett. Granddaughters Becky (Todd) Willoughby, Megan Scarlett, 2 Step-grandchildren Chris Myers and Renee Myers and 3 sisters Marie Edith Carroll, Nora Johnson and Dottie. Great-grandchildren Emily,Ethan, Tiffany, Taylor,Brandon,Josh and Eli. Haley, William , Jaxon and Carter.

Services will be at Carson-Speaks Chapel in Independence, MO.

Visitation December 10, 2021 from 6pm to 8pm. Funeral services will be December 11, 2021 at 10am.

Graveside Service in Mt. Washington Cemetery where he will lay in rest next to his Son, Grandson and Sherry.
