Lavern was a United States Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War. He owned and operated Berchtold & Knobloch Tiling and was a long-time farmer in the rural Speer area. He was a faithful member of the Princeville Apostolic Christian Church, where he gave his heart to the Lord in 1956.
Burial will be in Princeville Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery.
