Ford L. Belfrage, 92, formerly of Sioux City, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, in Issaquah, Wash.

Memorial services are planned for a later date in Iowa. Arrangements are with Flintofts Funeral Home in Issaquah.

Mr. Belfrage was born Jan. 15, 1911, in Sergeant Bluff, to Wilfred L. and Winnie (Woodford) Belfrage. He lived almost all of his life in Woodbury County. He attended the University of Iowa, where he studied electrical engineering.

Mr. Belfrage married Marjorie Mossman on Feb. 7, 1940, in Sioux City. She preceded him in death in 1996. He served in the 4149 Army Air Force Base Unit during World War II and achieved the grade of master sergeant. He was honorably discharged after a back injury. Returning back to Iowa, he assisted in the family farm and continued his career with the Chicago Northwestern Railroad which lasted for more than 40 years. He retired as a locomotive engineer.

Mr. Belfrage was a member of First United Methodist Church, a 54-year member of Landmark Lodge 103 of the Free and Accepted Masons, the Sioux City Consistory, Hi-Twelve, American Legion, George Nelson Post, Disabled American Veterans and Abu-Bekr Shrine. He also served on the advisory council of the Jamison Chapter, Order of DeMolay.

Survivors include his daughter, Marilyn A. and her husband, Raymond Rawe; and two granddaughters, Stephanie and her husband, Garret Grube and Melissa Rawe, all of Issaquah.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by siblings, John, Mac, Elizabeth, Marjorie and Winifred.

The family suggests remembrances to Providence Marianwood Foundation, 3725 Providence Pt. Dr. S.E., Issaquah, Wash. 98029 or the Abu-Bekr Transportation Fund in Sioux City.
