Raymond William Hafner, 87, passed away in his sleep November 16, 2021, at Homestead of Auburn Assisted Living.

Ray was born on January 6, 1934, in Topeka, Kansas, the youngest of 13 children of John G. Hafner and Margaret (Jacobs) Hafner.

He was a graduate of St. Joseph Grade School and Hayden High School, and he worked as a sheet metal worker for 42 years at the Santa Fe Railroad shops before retiring in 1995. A builder, craftsman, and plumber, he proudly built the family home in North Topeka. Fishing and hunting were his pastimes.

He married the love of his life, Dee Thomas, on September 6, 1953, at Assumption Church, Topeka.

He is survived by his daughter, Delene (Mark Dechand) Van Sickel and son, Marc Hafner; grandson, Nicholas Van Sickel; and great-granddaughter, Sierra Van Sickel. He was preceded in death by his wife, son, Kirk and grandchildren, Celessa Van Sickel and Aubrey Van Sickel. He was also preceded in death by all of his siblings.

Ray was a member of Sacred Heart-St. Joseph Parish. Funeral services were private.
