Albert is survived by his children and spouses: Dr. Paul and wife Susan (Schwindt) Hamersky of Castle Rock, CO; Daniel and wife Jean (Huxtable) Hamersky of Green Bay, WI; Stephen and wife Kitt (Hemphill) Hamersky of Omaha, NE; Anne Hamersky and husband Colin Morris of San Francisco, CA; Joseph Hamersky and wife Allison Prete of Brooklyn, NY; grandchildren: Rory (wife Kara) Hamersky of Denver, CO and their daughter Adelyn and Ryleigh; Tim Hamersky of Denver, CO and his son Hunter ; Deslie Hamersky of Denver, CO; Jenna Baumgard (husband Heath) and their children Lauren & Marvin; Ben Hamersky of Des Moines, IA; Dr. Jack (wife Jess) Hamersky of Auburn, AL and their children Marlee and Parker; Dr. Kayla (husband Dr. Michael) Kaiser of Los Angeles, CA; Karly (husband Josh) Black of Burchard, NE; Josef Nygaard of Los Angeles, CA; Willa Hamersky of Brooklyn, NY; sister, Veronica Milburn; sister-in-law, Antonine Hamersky, sister-in-law, Lucy Hamersky and sister-in-law Mary Ann Biltoft. Preceded in death by wife Eleanor, parents Charles and Mary, brothers Alfons Hamersky, and Miroslav "Joe" Hamersky, brother-in-law Ted Milburn and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Francis and Frances Makovicka.

Albert graduated from Assumption High School, Dwight, Nebraska in l941. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1948, a Bachelor of Architecture in 1949 from the University of Nebraska and a Master in Architecture with Honors in 1950 from M.I.T.

During World War II, he served in the U.S Army, 533rd Engineer Boat and Shore Regiment, as part of the 3rd Engineer Special Brigade, attached to the Sixth Army, as well as the Eighth Army for special assignments. He did reconnaissance work and took part in invasions in the South Pacific including New Guinea, New Britain, the Philippines and the occupation of Japan. He was awarded five Battle Stars representing major invasions, a Bronze Arrowhead for initial assaults on enemy beaches, Philippine Liberation medal with two bronze battle stars and a special commendation for outstanding service.

Albert worked with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in Chicago as an architectural designer from 1950-52. In late1952 he joined the architectural firm Clark and Enersen in Lincoln. He served as President 1977-92.He designed many buildings in Lincoln including Bob Devaney Sports Center, County City Building, Main Post Office, Community Services Building, Saint Elizabeth Hospital, East Campus Library, Gere and Anderson Libraries, Madonna Home, Saint Thomas Aquinas Church and Newman Center, Catholic Center, College View Seventh Day Adventist Church, Bonacum House, Saint Peter's Church and School, Wesleyan University Olin Hall of Science, Wesleyan Administration Building, Wesleyan Stadium, Motherhouse for Christ the King Sisters. Albert's out-of-state projects included Air Force Academy housing, Colorado Springs, CO; Fine Arts Center at College of DuPage, IL; and major renovation of the 1880 Basilica for Benedictine Monks of Conception Abbey in Conception, MO.

Albert, a mentor to many emerging Nebraska architects said, "The primary social function of the architect is not to simply fulfill utilitarian needs, but to create a work of art. An artful building has a clear sense of order that stretches your emotions, and lifts your mind and soul beyond just pure function."

After retirement from the Clark Enersen Partners in 1992, he focused on international architectural consulting in Jordan, Northern Ireland, Canada and China. After the Velvet Revolution he spent several months in the Czech Republic serving as advisor to the Ministry of Economy in the areas of Urban and Regional Planning and as advisor to Tomas Jezek, a Member of Parliament, in redeveloping a former Soviet army base at Ralsko, Czech Republic.

During his career Albert also contributed to a great variety of civic, professional and religious organizations, including Chair –The Lincoln Community Foundation; Chair – Lincoln Parks & Recreation Advisory Board; Vice Chair – St. Elizabeth Foundation; Chair – Nebraska Board of Engineers & Architects; Member – Lincoln Parks & Recreation Foundation; Member Dimensions Foundation Board; Chair – Lincoln Arts Council; Board Member – Leadership Lincoln; Board Member Nebraska Humanities Council; Board Member-Lancaster County Hospital Authority; Chair – Mayor's Blue Ribbon Committee on the Arts; President – Downtown Lincoln Association; Treasurer & Trustee – Downtown Development Corporation; Board Member – Cable Television Advisory Commission; Board Member – Nebraska Independent College Foundation; Board Member – Union College President's Advisory Council; Chair – Capitol Environs Committee; President – Star City Holiday Parade; Grand Marshal – Wilber Czech Days Parade; Grand Marshal – Dwight Czech Days Parade; President – Rotary Club; Member Steering Committee – Mayor's Prayer Breakfast; Member –Interfaith Legislative Committee; Member Board of Regents – Conception Seminary College; President – Bishop's Lay Committee for Vocations; President – Serra Club of Lincoln; Governor of District 9 Serra International; Trustee & Treasurer – International Board of Serra

He received many honors and awards including 25 design awards from the American Institute of Architects, Distinguished Alumni Award from the College of Architecture, University of Nebraska, Alumni Achievement Award from the University of Nebraska, the Harry F. Cunningham Gold Medal from the Nebraska American Institute of Architects, King Charles Award from the Nebraska Czechs of Wilbur, Special Recognition from the U.S. Ambassador to the Czech Republic and the Distinguished Service Medal from Bishop Casey, former Bishop of Lincoln.

Albert, a devoted family man, traveled widely with Eleanor, his wife of 70 years, and deeply enjoyed his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by family, friends, and community.
