We affectionately call Joseph Spence "JR" as there are so many Joseph's in our family....as far as we know he is not officially a "JR", but this has helped our family keep track of all the Joseph's.
My Grandfather's notes show him to be born on 12 Aug 1799 in Washington County.
Joseph SR and Mary (Morrison) Spence arrived in Chartiers, Washington County, PA in 1788/89 and he's on the 1800 census for Chartiers, Washington County, PA.
Joseph JR was married to Sarah Boyer on the 22 Oct 1822 in Washington County, PA
and they had 2 children, a girl, Mary DeVaul (Cooper)and a son, Joseph Robert born in Oct 1831 in Washington County, PA.
I have not found a 1830 Census for Joseph JR.
In the 1840 Census Joseph JR, his wife, Sarah (Boyer) and Joseph Robert are living in Allegheny County, PA
This information came from a family Bible that my Grandfather was able to copy information from, but I don't know who has the Bible now.
Joseph JR is also on the 1850 and 1860 Census in Allegheny County, PA.
I have not found Joseph JR in the Civil War or any newspapers.
Our best estimate is that his death is after 1860 Census.
