Lois Mae Bateman, 80, of Junction City, a former longtime Baker City resident, died Jan. 13, 2005, at her home.

At her request, there will be no funeral.

Lois was born on July 1, 1924, at Monument. She moved to Richland when she was a small girl and had moved to Junction City from Baker City about 25 years ago.

She enjoyed fishing, the outdoors and any kind of puzzles. She was a loving mother and sister.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; her parents, Alex and Susie Simonis.

Mrs. Bateman was born July 1, 1924, in Richland to William and Susie Paine Lauder. She married Harry Bateman in Weiser, Idaho, in 1971. He died in 1997.

She lived in Baker County, Ore., for 54 years, in Harrisburg for 26 years and in Junction City for the past two years.

Mrs. Bateman was employed as a field worker. She enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and canning.

Survivors include a son, Gary of Junction City; three daughters, Betty Logan of Monroe, and Carolyn Mehlhorn and Mary Colerick, both of Baker City; two brothers, Lloyd Simonis of Idaho and Floyd Simonis of Baker City; two sisters, Ruth Fox of Baker City and Jean Croxen of Hermiston; and seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

England's Eugene Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
