A.A. Norton

MOUNT PLEASANT - Aaron Alonzo Norton, 76, was found dead at his home at 306 North Adams street at 4:30 p.m. May 6.

Norton was found by a neighbor, H.R. Roach, who knowing he had not been well, went to the house to see how he was. Coroner Hugh Dallner said death was due to a heart attack, and that no inquest would be held.

Norton was born in Henry county, near Merrimac, on May 31, 1877, the son of George W. and Lousia Cahill Norton. He farmed in the Trenton vicinity most of his life, retiring in 1942. In September of 1953, he moved to Mount Pleasant.

A widower for the last 42 years, Norton is survived by a son and a daughter; Floyd Norton, Mount Pleasant, and Mrs. Ray Rich, Mount Pleasant rural.

Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Bert Nuwsum, Fort Dodge; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Last rites will be held at the Crane funeral home at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. James W. Marlin, pastor of First Methodist church will officiate and burial will be in Green Mound cemetery.
