Johann Hermann Kohues was the son of Johann Henrich Kohues 1799-1846 and Anna Maria Gertrud Piegelbrock 1797-1873 of Ostbevern, Prussia. He immigrated to Cincinnati in 1850. John was a tailor by trade and married Maria Veronica Determan on 24 Jul 1855 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Maria was also a native of Prussia/Germany. Johann Kohues Americanized his name to John Herman Kohus after immigration. John was the first of three brothers to immigrate from Ostbevern, Prussia to Cincinnati, Ohio in the 1800's. He died of Brights disease, a kidney disorder.
