Laverne Marie Belligio, born June 3, 1940 to Napoleon & Helen (Bradac) LaFleur in Evergreen Park, IL. She and her younger brother, Gene grew up in Roseland.
LaVerne graduated from Fenger H.S. and became a Secretary at Continental Bank and met Frederick Abendroth. They married and had three children which she stayed home and raised. Later, she and Fred divorced. After some time, she met her old flame, Ron Belligio, they fell in love again and married.
After many years, she retired from her Legal Secretary position at Mayer, Brown and Platt. LaVerne enjoyed bowling with her girlfriends; playing cards on a Saturday night; her H.S. Reunions, the Roseland Roundtable; and she could really dance a Polka or Jitterbug the night away.
After battling many illnesses and while recovering at a skilled nursing facility from two recent heart procedures she caught Covid and passed away on November 8th in Mesa, AZ, at Banner Baywood Hospital.
Surviving family members: Brother, Eugene, Children: Linda (Abendroth) and Tom; Caryn (Abendroth) and Mark; and, Kurt Abendroth and Danielle. Grandchildren: Sarah (Dan) and Jacob; Joe, Matt; and, a host of other relatives and friends.
Family only burial, December 8th, 2pm Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
Celebration of life: December 9th, Scarborough Fare Club House, 5555 Scarborough Lane, Oak Forest, IL; 3PM – 8PM Open House, all are welcome to attend.
