Ephraim Pierson Passes Away at
His Home in Sauk Centre
END OF A LONG LIFE
Funeral Services Held From Con-
gregational Church and Interment
in Oakland

Ephraim Pierson departed from this
life at 8:056 p. m. Saturday, April 15,
at his home in this city, after an
illness of only six days. Funeral services
were held at 2:30 p. m. Tuesday,
April 18, from the Congregational
church, Rev. F. H. Oehler officiating.
A quartet choir consisting of Mrs. A.
W. Austin, soprano; Miss Clara Carr,
alto: Dr. H. F. Hennemann, tenor;
A. F. Strebel, bass; with Miss Winifred
Cooper at the piano, rendered
appropriate hymns. The sermon was
appropriate and a tribute to the life
of the deceased. Interment was in
Oakland cemetery. The pall bearers
were Messrs. L. S. Bishop, W. O. P.
Hilsdale, A. E. Lyman, Chas. Lamb,
W. W. Galusha and Whitcomb.

Mr. Pierson was born in Canada,
July 29, 1851. He had lived in the
vicinity of Sauk Centre, about a mile
north of town, for the past thirty-five
years. He was twice married. His
first wife was Miss Mary Cannon, who
was joined in wedlock to Mr. Pierson
April 3, 1876. She died Feb. 5, 1905.

On the eleventh day of January,
1907, Mr. Pierson was married to Miss
Norma Hayes, at Marseilles, Illinois,
She survives her husband, as does a
daughter two and a haif years old.

Mr. Pierson was well known in Sauk
Centre and vicinity. He stood well
in the community and had-a large
circle of friends and acquaintances.

His daughter Norma LaMoyne Pierson married Perry Blair Mengel and lived in Raytown, Missouri, dying in 2004.
