FRANCES "DOLL" JOHNSTON DIES AT 100

It is with great sadness that the family of Frances "Doll" Johnston announces her sudden passing on Wednesday, December 6, 2007, at the age of 100 years.

Born to Boss and Emily (Hines) Cowling in Bridgeport, Texas, on November 13, 1907. She was the oldest of three children.

Frances married Carl Johnston in 1934. After their union, they moved to the Rio Grande Valley where Carl became a "successful business farmer" for several years before returning to Wichita Falls in 1945. Carl was partner/owner of Walker-Neer Manufacturing Company. After his death she moved to Abilene for several years then to Dallas. After her retirement from Lincoln Property Management in 1981, she moved to Farmersville, Texas, to live with her daughter and son-in-law until 1991. At the age of 84, she returned to Dallas to independently. It was at the age of 94 she moved to South Texas to be with her daughter. She became a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in San Benito, TX. She also joined the Red Hat Society and was the oldest member in the Rio Grande Valley. "Doll" will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Bettye Dickerson and her husband Clyde, of Rancho Viejo, Texas. Former residence of Farmersville and owners of Gringos Fiesta, her son, Raymond Johnston and his wife Arlene of Farmersville and Brother in Law Bob Johnston and wife Velma of Wichita Falls.

"Doll" will also be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Dennis (Sarah), Rick, Jack (Brenda), Lisa (Bob), Catherine, Vickie (Joel), Mark (Sandy), Kim (Jack), Elizabeth (James), Rebecca, Tabatha (Tommy), and Marcia. Her 24 Great-grandchildren and 15 Great-great-grandchildren, Nephews Will Cowling of Eugene, Oregon, Bob Fletcher of Las Vegas, Nevada, Niece Harriet Rhodes of Dallas, and many Great "great" Nieces and Nephews.

Doll was predeceased by her parents Emily and Boss Cowling, Brothers Murray, Paul and his wife Dorothy Cowling.

A memorial service will be held at the Crestview Memorial Park Mausoleum in Wichita Falls, Texas, on Thursday December 13, 2007 at 11 a.m.

Memorial Donation in the memory of "Doll" may be made to the alter guild at All Saints Episcopal Church, 499 N. Pecan St. San Bonito, Texas 78586.

She was 100 years and 23 days at the time of her death.
