Tom's Dad worked for Phillips Petroleum, and the family moved to Phillips in the Texas Panhandle. Tom graduated from Phillips High School in 1951, and was attending Junior College when he was drafted into the Army in 1954. Tom was stationed at Ft. Sill in Oklahoma, in the Army Intelligence Division, where he was sent to Augusta, GA, to special training in Cryptology Steno classes. He was then sent to Southern Germany, in Neu Ulm near Munich.
After his 2 years of service, he attended North Texas University in Denton on the GI Bill. In 1958 he met his wife of 62 years through mutual friends at the Skillman Avenue Church of Christ, and were married 6 months later on April 18, 1959. To this union they had 3 children: Gary, Brian, & Sheila.
Tom worked for Safeway and the US Postal Service as a Letter Carrier to provide for his growing family. He was a Beekeeper, mowed yards, and he became certified as a locksmith. He enjoyed bringing the grandkids along with him to mow, clean the office building and to locksmith jobs. He Served as a Deacon at Casa View / Meadowview in the Benevolence Ministry. Tom enjoyed singing so much he attended Dallas Bible College for School Leading classes.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Wilma Pauline Allen; children: Gary D. Allen and Susanna, Brian K. Allen and Patti, Sheila C. Morring and Greg; grandchildren: Bradley Allen and Jemina, Julia Allen, Blake Allen and Courtney, Samantha Ford and Ben, Kirk Allen and Savannah, Diedre Hurley, Jared Hurley, Casey Morring, Taylor Morring; great-grandchildren: Eben, Omri, Caigen, Brinlee, Cayson, Adrian, Riley, Matthew, Hunter, Archer; siblings: Catherine Hoffmeister, Joyce H. Valentine; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will all miss Tom dearly. Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur M and Helen (Eastwood)Allen; and brother: Phillip Allen.
A funeral service is to be held on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at 12:30 PM, at Meadow View Church of Christ in Mesquite, Texas, with Minister Mike Hisaw officiating. The family will receive friends and loved ones from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM preceding the service at the church. Burial will follow the funeral service in Rest Haven Memorial Park
