Madge LaVenta Ashcroft Brimhall, 95, longtime resident of Naturita, Colo., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, in Mancos, Colo. She was born Dec. 19, 1911, in Ramah, the daughter of Rulon and Emma (Adair) Ashcroft.

In 1930, Madge and Marion K. Brimhall were married. The couple shared 60-plus years together. Madge and Marion were hardworking, faithful volunteers at LDS temples in St. George, Utah, and Manti, Utah. They helped to build and establish the temple in Tucumcari. Madge was a multi-talented woman. She spoke Navajo and was a member of various card clubs. Madge was happiest with her family and helping others.

Surviving Madge are her daughter, Kay Crane of Naturita, Colo.; her brother, Herbert C. Ashcroft and wife, Jane, of Mesa, Ariz.; four grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marion Brimhall; her children, Elaine Pinnell, and Charles
M. Brimhall; and her siblings, Grace Bond, Blanche Garner, James Ashcroft, Alfred Ashcroft and Wanda May Ashcroft.
Visitation for Madge will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, M Road Chapel in Cortez, Colo. Funeral services will follow at 12:30 p.m., with Bishop Spencer Smith officiating. Interment will be at Kirtland Community Cemetery in Kirtland.

Memorial contributions may be made in Madge's name to either the Nucla/Naturita Fire Department or to the Rico Fire Department.
