Lillie Bletcher-Gallegos transitioned peacefully on November 7, at her home in Albuquerque.
Lillie was born in Señorito, New Mexico in 1936.
Lillie spent most of her life living in Cuba where she met her husband, Melquiades Gallegos.Together they started several successful businesses, which include a motel, a restaurant, a laundromat, a car wash and a gas station.
After her husband passed away in 1984, Lillie continued to be a successful business woman, only to retire four years ago. Lillie spent her later years in Albuquerque, to be closer to her family.
Lillie was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Lillie was most known for being a strong, determined and hardworking woman. Lillie loved birds, gardening, her motel, spending time with family, watching Lobo basketball games, going out for seafood, church on Sunday, dancing, listening to music, sweets, collecting antiques, most things that sparkle, and anything orange, except the fruit.
Lillie was a contradiction, she could be tough as nails, yet she could also be kind, compassionate and very charming. While Lillie left us too early, her fighting spirit and memories will never be forgotten.
Lillie is survived by her sister, Fabiola Atkison (Jimmy), her children, Charlene Chávez (Mike), Cynthia Egenes (Hans), Melvin Gallegos (Kathy), Brenda Gallegos (Chris Aragón), and Kathleen J. Gallegos, 19 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lillie was preceded in death by her parents, Winfred and Mary Bletcher, her husband, Melquiades, sisters, Rosemary and Stella, brothers, Gerald and Leonard, her daughter, Donna and cousin, Josephine.
Special Thanks to Savina, Lupe, Audrey, Thelma, Espi and grandson, Ben for giving her special care. Special Thanks to Pita who brought her Holy Communion.
Services will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cuba, NM. The Rosary will begin at 11:00 a.m. Mass will begin at 12:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the Guadalupe Hall. A private burial will be held at a later date.
