Clement James Stanley, 67, passed away at his Great Falls residence due to natural causes on Friday, November 5, 2021.
James was born on January 18, 1954, in Rocky Boy to Martin and Wilma (Meyers) Stanley. He was raised in Rocky Boy, and attended school in Havre. After high school, James worked in construction for several years, and in 1978, he married Dolores Rodriguez. After they married, they lived in Great Falls for a while, and moved back to Havre so James could attend Northern Montana College. It was a brutally cold winter, so after that school year ended, they returned to Great Falls where they remained. There, James worked in asbestos removal for many years.
He was a quiet, gentle man who enjoyed pretty much anything outdoors. He loved to fish, and he consistently would purchase junk cars just to fix them up. He worked as a firefighter occasionally, and he loved to read. James was proud of his Chippewa Cree heritage, and he enjoyed attending cultural events. His favorite "job" was being a grandpa, and he and Dolores raised several of their grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Cory Stanley; parents, Martin and Wilma Stanley; brother, Harvey Stanley; sister, Joyce Stanley; and several cousins with whom he was very close.
James is survived by his wife, 3 daughters, a son, 10 grandchildren, a sister, a brother, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and many, many friends.
