Charles Albert Couts, 76, of Windsor, Missouri, died late Thursday evening, November 11, 2021, in Clinton, Mo.

He was born January 25, 1945, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of John Dale Couts Sr. and Elyta Irene (Wheeler) Couts. On November 19, 1963, he married Mary Louise Bentch in Kansas City, Mo., and she survives of the home.

He was a truck driver with Yellow Freight for a number of years, retiring in 1997. He was a member and union steward for Teamsters Local 41. He enjoyed yard work, gardening, fishing and working on classic cars. He enjoyed spending time traveling and camping with his family and grandchildren and was a beloved "Poppie" to not only his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but to many who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife Mary, survivors include a daughter, Méchele "Shelli" Couts, Kansas City, Mo.; 2 granddaughters, Sarah Couts Foster (Tony) and Brittany Couts; 5 great-grandchildren, Harper Couts, Scout Foster, Kimber Couts, Sloane Foster, and Stone Foster; several nieces and nephews include a great-niece Mechelle Moreland and her children Alexus and Chase; dear family friend Sandy Leonard; and caregiver Autumn Sell. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, John Couts II, and a sister, Judy Slaten.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. Burial will follow at Cable Ridge Cemetery, Climax Springs, Mo. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family suggests contributions to Pawsibilities Are Endless in care of the funeral home and condolences may be left online at www.hadleyfuneralhome.com.
