Kenneth Marion Barhite, age 100, of Longmont, Colorado passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2021. Kenneth was born January 9, 1921.

Kenneth Marion Barhite 100yrs, went to be with the Lord on November 9,2021. He was born January 9,1921 to Floyd and Martha Barhite at their Farm in Alden, Iowa. He was the middle of five children. He attended Country School, then went to "in town school" from 8th grade on and graduated from Alden High school in 1938. He then attended Ellsworth Jr College in Iowa Falls, Iowa and Graduated with an Associate's Degree in 1940.

He met the love of his life, Lovella Jones at High School in Alden, and they married December 31,1941. They had 60 years of marriage together, and were blessed by one son, and two daughters.

Ken served in the Army Infantry during WWII in the Pacific Theater Operations. He was sent to Officer's Training in Australia and received the ranking of 2nd Lieutenant with the 158 Regimental Combat Team Occupation forces in the "AmeriCal Division" in the Philippine Islands. He was very Proud to have served his Country and be part of the "Greatest Generation" to protect it from 1942-1945.

After discharge Ken worked at both Goodyear Tire company in Webster City, Iowa and farmed in Iowa Falls area for many years, before visiting numerus times and falling in love with Colorado, and moving here in 1957. He built two homes. One in Boulder, and a second beautiful one in the country on ten acres on the outskirts of the City of Boulder, where he and Lovella raised their family for 19yrs.

Ken worked at the Atomic Energy Plant, Rocky Flats for the next 15 yrs. untill he took early retirement in 1972, and helped Lovella in her Home Day Care Business she'd had for many years. In 1979 they ended that business and move back to Alden Iowa. There, Ken was the caretaker for the Alden Cemetery for six years. As always both he and Lovella's passion of giving to others by Volunteering as well as regularly donating for many years to WWII and Veteran's Organizations and Campus Crusade for Christ, God led them to join for the next 10 years MMAP. Mobile Missionary Assistance Program, helping Christian Organizations doing building projects all over the United States. They loved working and helping other's and sharing God's love while seeing the States. In 1994 they retired back to Colorado in Longmont. Still volunteering 3 days a week at the Our Center, Meals on wheels, and CarryOut Caravan Grocery Delivery to homebound seniors, till Lovella's passing in 2002. But Ken always wanting to help others, he and daughter Lydia continued to Volunteering at the CarryOut Program until March of 2020, where for safety reasons of covid they stopped.

He dearly loved, and was very proud of his large family, and loved seeing and visiting with them all. He will be deeply missed by so many, and always be remembered as a warm, friendly, kind, giving loving man, who proudly Served both God and Country.

He is proceeded in death by his Parents, wife Lovella, Son Dennis, and three babies they lost at birth due to RH Factor. As well as his three brothers, Wayne, Victor, Lloyd, and sister Ruth and their spouses. He is survived by his daughter-in-law Susie Barhite of Boone NC. Daughter Jill Barhite, of Fruita Colo. And Daughter Lydia and husband Mark Tafoya, of Longmont Colo. He's also survived by 10 Grandchildren, 25 Great-Grandchildren, and 1 Great-Great-Granddaughter Amiyah. As well as many nieces and nephews.

Special thank you to The Regent Independent Community where he lived, as everyone was like a second family to him. A funeral service will be held at Grace Evangelical Free Church located at 2415 Lake Park Drive Longmont, CO 80503 on Friday December 3, 2021 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Foothills Gardens of Memory located at 14241 N. 107th St. Longmont, Co 80504. A luncheon will be held at 12:00 PM at LifeBrige Christian Church Located at 10345 Ute Hwy, Longmont, CO 80504 after the burial.
