Benjamin Franklin DeBow was born on March 5, 1897 in Tennessee, the son of James William Debow Sr (1870–1949) and Willie Mai (Creech) DeBow (1872–1959).

A US Army veteran of World War II and later a public relations officer in the banking industry, Benjamin was living at 1221 Greenland in Nashville and was 66 years old, a widower and had "Pseudomonas aeruginosa" when he died of bilateral pneumonia on March 14, 1963 at Nashville's VA Hospital.

Survivors included sisters Mrs Thomas W Jarrell, Mrs Bryan Jones, Mrs Gailor Garner and Mrs Charles Lee, and brothers Lucian J DeBow of Goodlettsiville, Tennessee and James W DeBow Jr of Franklin, Tennessee.

Funeral Services were held on March 16th at Phillips-Robinson Funeral, and burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Nashville.
