Barbara Allen Humphries, 77, of Matoaca, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021. Born in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late Richard C. Allen and Edith James Allen. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward Porter Humphries, Sr.
Barbara worked as an assistant librarian with Matoaca Library from 1981 to 2006. Chesterfield honored Barbara's 25 years of service by placing her name on one of the walkway bricks at the historic Chesterfield County Courthouse. Her greatest passion in life was her family and she loved them unconditionally.
She is survived by her children, Barbara Pell (Robert), Sherri Simms (William), Edward Humphries, Jr., and Joann Cecil (Steve); grandchildren, Lucas Cecil and Codie Simms; and brother, Richard Allen.
The family receive from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Petersburg First Assembly of God, 25213 Ferndale Rd., Petersburg VA, 23803. Interment will follow at East Matoaca Cemetery.
