Maypole Only a Week Ago
This accident , the only one to mar the observance of Indeed Day , was particularly pathetic and tragic. Only a week ago the golden haired sweet complexioned little tot was the maypole in a pageant given by the Kindergarten children of School No. 20 to-day she lies in her small coffin . Hardly a mark of burn is noticeable except on the back of her neck , which is scorched .
Doris Gertrude Rose was born February 9, 1918, a daughter of Charles D. and Elizabeth Neyenhouse Rose . She had just started in school at No. 20 and had been to services at St. Francis de Sales Church. Having the appearance of a little fairy , she was a favorite with Parents and neighbors . Besides her parents , she leaves two brothers John Francis aged 10; ( unreadable————-) Mary Elizabeth Rose age 8. She is also survived by a grandfather John F. Neyenhouse of this city.
