Lavenia Cass, age 77 of Clearwater, Florida and formerly of Cookeville, passed away October 16, 2021 in Florida after a brief illness. Lavenia was born in Cookeville, Tennessee July 16, 1944 to the late Sarah Fannie Randolph Cass and James Earl Cass. She graduated from Cookeville Central High school and attended Tennessee Polytechnic Institute.

Lavenia had a long career with Delta Airlines. Her employment with Delta led to advancing positions in Atlanta, Dallas and finally Clearwater. As a result of her job, she was able to travel the world and visited every continent. She was able to fulfill a livelong aspiration of her mother by taking her to the Holy Land.

Lavenia always had a story to tell of the far off, exotic places she visited. She also always had a ghost story for her many nieces and nephews when she returned home to Tennessee.

Lavenia was a lifelong learner and collector. She kept up with current events and was always ready to talk politics or debate the issues. She amassed many treasures in her constant quest through antique and thrift stores. She had a great eye for the ultimate find.

Lavenia was preceded in death by her parents; brother: James Earl Cass, Jr and sister: Mary Ruth Bilbrey.

She leaves behind her sister: Betty Sliger; brother: Jerry Cass and his spouse Connie; sister: Carolyn Whitley and her spouse Gene; sister: Judy Estes and her spouse Mike; as well as 15 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews and other beloved relations. She will be sorely missed by all these and more who loved her great spirit and adventurous heart.
