Richard P. Sarrazin, 79, died Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home. Born in Fort Wayne, he was a graduate of Central Catholic High School.
He was employed as a printer for 17 years at Craftsman Lithograph and Perdue Printed Products. He was also employed by Slater Stainless Steel retiring in 2002 from the Engineering Department. He was a member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council #10043. A veteran of the United States Army he was an active member of American Legion Post 82. A lifetime bowler, he was continually active in the sport involved in league and tournament play. He was proud to be a member of the Fort Wayne City Tournament Championship Teams in 1982 and Team Regular Handicap Champions in 2011. As a volunteer, he managed Northside Recreation Center (renamed Rich Sarrazin Bowling Center in 2017) at Most Precious Blood Church and School for over 45 years, and he served as coach of the Bishop Dwenger Saints Bowling Team for over 15 years. He was a life member of the Fort Wayne Bowling Association having held the position of director, vice president and president. He was inducted into the Fort Wayne Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1994.
Rich is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda N. Gardner Sarrazin; sons, Richard E. (Chrissy) Sarrazin of Las Vegas, Nevada; Larry R. (Carly) Sarrazin of Fort Wayne; daughter, Wendy R. (Rich) Luley of Fort Wayne; brother Donald E. (Juanita) Sarrazin of Fort Wayne; sister, Lois M. (Terry) Tucker of Huntertown; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Larry R. Gardner and John P. McMahon; sister-in-law, Rebecca S. Gardner and niece, Molly N. McMahon.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 1515 Barthold St. with calling one hour prior, Celebrated by Fr. Rick Friebel. Visitation also Monday, November 8, 2021, 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., with Rosary at 7:00 pm. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery.
