Died of enteric fever (typhoid) at 29 Stationary Hospital, Heilbron, Orange River Colony on 28 Dec 1901. He was buried on 29 Dec 1901. He is also commemorated on the Australian War Memorial Roll of Honour in Treloar Crescent, Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia (see: https://vwma.org.au/explore/memorials/1797).
