Grady Morrison Penney 87, of Hixson, passed away on October 11, 2021. Grady had a great amount of love for all of his family. He was passionate about his beliefs and was always willing to help those in need. He had a great sense of humor and loved making others laugh.
In his later years, Grady enjoyed working for his son at DLP Construction. He retired from Arnold Palmer/Pro Group Golf Co. after 37 years of service. Prior to that, he worked at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, Tallent Machine Shop. He was very passionate about gardening, fishing, wood working and crafts which included benches, cabins and elaborate historical replicas such as cathedrals and lighthouses.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Delphia McGuire Penney; three brothers, Evan, James and Calvin Penney; and sister Velma Penney Blaylock Walker.
Grady is survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Charlotte Dodd Penney; his son Dale (Lauren) Penney and daughter Theresa Penney O'Barr; his grandchildren, Josh Penney, Wesley Sweat and Brittany Loggins; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews and a host of great friends whom he loved dearly.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 17 from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. at Hamilton Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held on Monday, from 10:00 A.M.–11:30 A.M. Funeral service will be held at 11:30 A.M in the chapel with Minister Paul Luecke officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
