Mr. Clarence Brooks, age 90, of Rome, GA, passed away peacefully at his residence Friday evening, October 29, 2021.

Mr. Brooks was born in Cartersville, GA, on February 23, 1931, son of the late Herbert and Louise Knight Brooks. He had lived most of his life in the Shannon community and for many years was a member and deacon of Bible Baptist Church and was a member of the Shannon Masonic Lodge #100 F&AM. Mr. Brooks was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. He had attended Model High School and in the early 1960s owned Joe's Radiator Service. Mr. Brooks later went to work for Integrated Products, then was with Florida Tile until retirement in 1994. He loved fishing and could be found most every morning at Bojangles on Turner McCall Blvd where he was known as Papaw. Mr. Brooks was married on March 16, 1951, to his love, Mary Jane Dillard Brooks, and she preceded him in death on March 8, 1999. A daughter, Gelita Freeman, and two brothers, Norman Brooks and Eurice Brooks, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Brooks is survived by three daughters and son-in-law, Sharon and Len Robinson, Kathy McEntyre, and Kandi Brooks, all of Rome; two sons and daughter-in-law, Gene and Marsha Brooks of Centre, AL, and Floyd Brooks of Rome. Eighteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, twelve great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Brooks will be Tuesday afternoon, November 2, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. in the Alvis Miller Memorial Chapel of the Salmon Funeral Home with Rev. John Huffman officiating. Interment will follow at Morning View Cemetery with the Honor Guard of Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 American Legion conferring military honors.

Mr. Brooks family will receive friends at Salmon Funeral Home Monday evening, November 1, 2021, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
