In the spring of 1949, Mr. and Mrs. McKinney celebrated the arrival of a new son on April 22, 1949. This new bouncing baby boy was given the name of Ivory Lee McKinney. He was one of several siblings born to this union.

After completing high school, Ivory enlisted in the United States Army, where he served his Country proudly. On February 9, 1970 his tour begin in Vietnam. Three month later he was Kill In Action in Thua Thien Vietnam.
He was survived by both of his parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters and other relatives.

His body was recovered from Vietnam and he was returned to his childhood home in Pompano Florida. A final salute to Ivory was held at Pompano Beach Cemetery with a gathering of his loving family and friends.

Note: Ivory and his unit was on a search and destroy mission; Ivory was the unit's point man. While on the search and destroy mission the unit walked into a North Vietnam Army concealed ambush. Ivory was instantaneously shot in the chest; the unit's slack man, Sgt Green Miller immediately went to assist Ivory to carry him to safety. While Green was going to Ivory's aid he was also shot; both valiant men died before medics could reach them.

Ivory McKinney's name is etched in the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington DC, Panel 11W ~ Line 105.
