John Roger Wedman, son of Joe and Dorothy (Clement) Wedman was born on December 31, 1930 and was raised on the family farm west of Danville, Kansas.

On August 29, 1951, Roger was united in marriage to Deloris Hess in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Anthony, Kansas. About 6 weeks later, on October 9th, Roger was called upon to serve his country in the United States Army and was sent to serve in the Korean War. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation. Roger received his Honorable Discharge on September 30, 1953 with the rank of Private First Class.

After returning to the states, Roger worked various jobs, but his real passion was farming. He and Deloris moved to a farm north of Argonia, Kansas, where they raised their eight children: Eugene, Richard, Ronald, David, Larry, Galen, Linda, and Marie. Later they moved to the family farm near Danville, where they lived several more years after retiring from farming.

Roger passed away on October 28, 2021 at the Anthony Community Care Center. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Deloris on July 23, 2021; two sons, Larry and David; daughter, Marie; brothers, Leonard and Tom; sister, Margaret; grandson, Nicholas Wedman; and brothers-in-law, Alan Mackey and Gerald Hess. Roger will be deeply missed by his children: Eugene Wedman and wife, Kristina of Anthony, Richard Wedman and wife, Teresa of Argonia, Ronald Wedman and wife, Stephanie of Argonia, Galen Wedman and wife, Jo of Medicine Lodge, and Linda Head and husband, Jay of Danville; fourteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Visitation is 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Rosary is 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 1, 2021 and Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 2, 2021, both at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Danville, of the St. Joan of Arc Parish Community of Harper County with Father Bob Pinninti officiating. Committal Service follows at Fairview Cemetery, south of Danville.
