Arlyn Bentson was born on October 21, 1933, in Lismore, Township, Nobles County, Minnesota to Ole and Josephine Sunde Bentson. He grew up on the family farm near Kenneth, MN and attended country school. On August 11, 1954, he enlisted in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge on August 10, 1956, he returned to the family farm and later began farming near Lake Wilson, MN. On December 1, 1967, he and Elinor Carlson Johnson were married in Flandreau, SD. Following their marriage, they made their home on a farm north of Lake Wilson where they farmed and raised beef cattle for over 50 years. He and Elinor enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Yuma, AZ. In June 2018 Arlyn moved to the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne, MN. He passed away there on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at the age of 88. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lake Wilson. He also was a member of the Lake Wilson American Legion Post. Arlyn Enjoyed spending time with family and friends, farming, and bullshi—ing with the guys. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren where the light of his life and he looked forward to anytime spent with them.

Survivors include his wife, Elinor Bentson of Worthington, MN, three children and their spouses, Susan and Roger Oliver of WA, Joyce and Tom Bohn of Brewster, MN, and Mark and Kelly Johnson of Elkton, SD, one son-in-law, Rex Streff of Hadley, MN, eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and one sister, Gladys Amburn of Kenosha, WI. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Jane Streff, great-grandson, Pierce Forcier, and 11 brothers and sisters.

A private family services is planned at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lake Wilson with Rev. Harlan Kaden officiating. The pallbearers are Ryan Streff, Brett Mathiason, Wade Konechne, Jim Gerlach, Nick Cauley Brent Oliver and Kent Carlson. Interment is at Hillside Cemetery in Lake Wilson, MN. Military honors accorded by the Lake Wilson American Legion Post.
