Clifton L. "Cliff" Gossett, 84-year-old retired logger who had been a resident of Forest Grove since 1935, died Thursday, October 15, at the Forest View Convalescent Home in Forest Grove, Saturday, October 17. Rev. Father James Heade, pastor of St. Anthony's Catholic Church of Forest Grove, conducted the service. Concluding rites and vault interment were at the Mt. View Memorial Gardens with five of his grandsons, John Brinkley, Warren and Perry Gossett, Douglas Stout and Mark Davis and Rich Heister serving as pall bearers.

Mr. Gossett was a native of Osborn County, Kansas where he was born January 5, 1886. He spent all of his early life there and married Anna McDonald at Plainville, Kansas on January 5, 1915. In the early 1092's Mr. Gossett moved his family to Colorado and then in 1930 to Washington and in 1935 to Forest Grove.

For the past 30 years Mr. Gossett had made his home at 1928 C Street in Forest Grove. During his working years here Mr. Gossett followed the logging industry and also had a farm in Scoggin Valley where he farmed and logged. His wife died in December, 1964. Also preceding him in death was a daughter, Anne in Colorado and his son, Warren Gossett in Idaho four years ago.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ray (Loretta) Bigler, Boise, Idaho and Mrs. Ruth Stout, Portland; two sisters, Mrs. Morris (Grace) Trumble, Albuquerque, N.M. and Mrs. Fred (Ada) Bailey, Colorado Springs, Colorado, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
