Eugene J. Frett, Sr. was born on May 29, 1927, in Oak Park, Illinois to Bernard and Agnes (nee Wehrmann) Frett. He died Friday, October 22, 2021, at Froedtert Hospital in Menomonee Falls, WI.
Before retiring, Mr. Frett founded a plastering business with his brother Charles called Frett Brothers. After the advent of drywall, he became a sales representative for art supplies working for Binney & Smith (Crayola Crayons) for 25+ years eventually being promoted to Sales Manager. He continued his arts career with Saks Arts & Crafts.
He was an active member of St. Edna Catholic Parish in Arlington Hts., IL since 1971 where he served as a bereavement minister and participated in the golf league for many years. Gene was a former president of the Chatham Place Condo Association board in Buffalo Grove, IL. Gene was also a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army between 1945 and 1947.
Gene is survived by his Children Eugene J. (Donna Petersen) Frett, Jr., James (Jacqueline) Frett, Peter (Kathryn) Frett, Terrence (Laureen), and Patty (Bill Futoransky); his Sister, Carol Ann Berghage; his 17 Grandchildren Brigitte F. (Brandon) Utter, Brendan (Kylie) Frett, Barry Frett, Blaire Frett, Erica (John) Fuja, Leslie (Fiancé Michael) Frett, Daniel (Melanie) Frett, Nicholas Frett, Patrick (Nicki) Frett, Brian (Fiancée Emily) Frett, Katie Frett, Michael Frett, Christina (Adam) Swanson, Terrence (Vianney) Frett, Hannah (Scott) Wendt, Kate Futoransky, and Emma Futoransky; his 14 Great Grandchildren, Max, Alma, and Marnie Utter, James and Patrick Fuja, Melanie, Grace, Taylor and Cooper Frett, Sasha and Oliver Frett, Nathan and Noah Swanson, and Rae Wendt.
He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia M. Frett nee Kelly; his parents, and his other siblings.
Visitation from 9:00 am until time of Funeral Mass at 10:00 am, at St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, IL.
