Genevieve Smith

Genevieve Smith, 92, of Heritage Manor Nursing Home, formerly of Versailles, died at 4:15 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 1990, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville. She was formerly employed as a restaurant manager.

Born in Versailles, February 19, 1898, she was the daughter of Alva and Leota Putnam Hoosier. She attended Versailles School and was a member of the Versailles Christian Church. She was also a member for over fifty years of the Royal Neighbors.

Her husband, Verlin E. Smith, preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Lavona Brown, two half-brothers, and one sister.

Survivors include two granddaughters, Mrs. Dan (Shari) Volk of Mt. Sterling and Mrs. Robert (Jan Ann) Moore of Peoria; four great-grandchildren, Kari, Jason and Ryan Volk and Marni Moore.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, March 28, 1990, at Versailles West Side Cemetery with the Rev. Donald Duncan officiating. Friends may call this morning at the Hufnagel Funeral Home from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Heritage Manor Nursing Home. Hufnagel Funeral Home will be in charge of the services.
