Mary Ruth Teague

Mrs. Mary Ruth Griffin Teague, the daughter of the late Mr. Eddie and Mrs. Nettie Carpenter Griffin, was born December 29, 1925, in Dossville, Leake County, MS.

She departed this life on February 25, 2008.

At an early age, she confessed a hope in Christ and untied with the Delydia Hill M. B. Church. Later, she moved to Kosciusko, MS; and joined the Christian Liberty M. B. Church. She served in the church as a Sunday School Secretary and Mission Secretary. She worked faithfully until the end.

Her education began in the elementary school of Leake County, MS. She furthered her education by attending high school at C. M. C. College, Kosciusko, MS; and the Attala County Training School. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Tougaloo College.

Her religious training was nurtured in a Christian home. Her early childhood was dedicated in mission and was discovered by members of her family which gave her the desire to become well trained by reading the Bible daily, attending church, and trusting in God that everything will be alright.

She married Mr. Jesse Teague of Kosciusko, MS; on January 24, 1948. This union was blessed with three beautiful children. Her husband preceded her in death.

She retired after having taught in the public school for thirty-three years. She taught all subjects and was very active in all programs in the school.

She was active in Voter's Registration Programs, The Civil Rights Movement, a member of the NAACP, a member of the Eastern Star, and a member of BCSU. She received several certificates of appreciation for being a good teacher. She did everything she could for her husband, her children, and everybody. She just loved people, especially the elderly.

She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Mrs. Mary Ann Nash and Ms. Linda Gail Teague of Kosciusko, MS; one son, Jesse Dale Teague of Dallas, TX; three grandsons, Amald L. Nash and Keno D. Nash of Kosciusko, MS; and Jesse D. Teague of Sallis, MS; one brother, Calvin Griffin of Detroit, MI; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
