DR. JULIUS GARST DIES SUDDENLY HEART FAILURE
Death Comes To Prominent Citizen Roswell and Wooster, Mass.
FUNERAL BE TOMORROW
Was Personal Friend Pres. Coolidge And Everywhere Recognized as Remarkable and Able Man
Dr. Julius Garst died very suddenly at his home in this city at 9:30 o'clock last night. The cause of his death was heart failure. Dr. Garst seemed to be in perfect health yesterday afternoon. He visited friends and relatives in this city and was a visitor at the Institute late in the afternoon.
Dr. Garst was born at Dayton, Ohio December 12, 1855. He was seventy years of age and was very prominent in commercial circles in the east and in the Pecos valley. He was married 41 years ago to Miss Mary E. King, who died a year ago. He leaves four children, Mrs. Grant Keyes, of this city; Mrs. A. S. Moses, of New York City, who is spending the winter here and twin sons, Webster and Chaplin, both of Bradenton, Florida. He also leaves one brother, Rear Admiral Perry Garst, of Bradenton, Fla.
Dr. Garst was a member of the Congregational church. He was a graduate of the Ann Arbor College of Medicine and did post-graduate work at the Jefferson Medical School of Philadelphia, Pa. He practiced medicine for ten years and later developed a formula for a proprietary medicine which became in great demand.
Dr. Garst was later interested in many lines of business and came to the Pecos valley 30 years ago. He immediately became interested in the valley and his investment continued until his holdings became very extensive.
Dr. Garst was a member of the Rotary club at Wooster, Mass. and was everywhere recognized as a remarkable and able man. He was a personal friend of President Coolidge and was a writer of marked ability.
Funeral services will be held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. F. Grant Keyes 1104 South Main Street tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock. Dr. Austin D. Crile will have charge of the services and Harry Andrew will sing. The body will be placed in the receiving vault at the Talmage Mortuary and later will be forwarded to the old home in Wooster, Mass. for burial.
