James "Jim" Arthur Smith, 80 years old of Salem WI passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center, Milwaukee, WI. He was born June 14, 1941 to the late Lester "Ted" Mark and Leona Marie (Hartnell) Smith in Kenosha, WI. On April 20, 1968, Jim was united in marriage with Jane Elyea at Salem United Methodist Church, Salem WI. He was an electrical contractor and the proud owner and operator of Smith Electric from 1970-2004. Jim enjoyed owning and working on old cars and was a member of the Burlington Area Car Club. He was a Civil War enthusiast, which included several trips to Gettysburg. Jim enjoyed woodworking and making furniture.

Survivors include, his wife of 53 years, Jane Smith; daughters, Jennifer (John) Koessl, Julie (Travis) Burdin, Jeanette (Jeff) Heyer; grandchildren, Jenna and Joseph Egeland and Jonathan Heyer; sister, Janis (Mac Lennon) Marks; brother-in-law, William (Jeanne) Elyea; and nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Jack (Joel) Smith; parents-in-law, Cecil and Bessie Elyea; sister-in-law, Betty Jones; and nephew, Kim Marks.

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 10:00AM until the time of service at 11:00AM Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Salem United Methodist Church, 25130 85th St, Salem, WI 53168. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gettysburg Foundation or the American Heart Association.
