Catherine L. Callender, 84, of Natrona Heights, passed away at home surrounded by her family, Tuesday, October 19, 2021 following a lengthy illness.
She was born January 14, 1937 in New Brighton, PA to the late Lester and Dorothy (Haire) Smith.
Catherine lived the past 25 years in Natrona Heights and prior to that Frazer Township. She was a Registered Nurse for 32 years at Allegheny Valley Hospital, retiring in 1997. Catherine was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Brackenridge and Eastern Star, Springdale. She was a graduate of Brighton High School in 1955 and Beaver Valley School of Nursing with a 4-year degree for her R.N. Catherine was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and enjoyed playing the piano, camping and traveling. She especially enjoyed her family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her children Kim M. Morris, Tonya L. (Mark) Mohrbacher, Wendy S. (John) Houston, Denise E. Callender and Richard S. (Lisa) Callender. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a sister Wilma Jean Boggs.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd E. Callender in 1992, daughter Janet McAllister, granddaughter Erica McAllister and a sister Grace Landers.
Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
