After losing his battle with cancer, Richard F. Gola passed away surrounded by his family in the early morning hours of October 12, 2021. He was 80 years old.
He was born on October 4, 1941 in Passaic NJ to his parents Frank & Laura Gola. He was raised in Wallington NJ graduating from Wallington High School in 1959 where he was a 4 year varsity football player.
From 1967-1968, he served in the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Bronze Star. From the late 1970's thru 2018, he was involved with the Boy Scouts of America. He was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. He retired from Barclay Brand Ferdon, South Plainfield NJ. Richard was actively involved in the VA and a local gun club.
Richard is survived by his wife Marianne, his son & daughter-in-law, Richard "Rick" & Tracey Gola, his daughter Heather Filipski and 2 granddaughters, Amanda and Emily Filipski. He is preceded in death by his parents Frank & Laura and brother Joseph Gola.
The viewing will be on Friday, October 15, 2021 from 5-8 pm at the Ketusky Funeral Home, 1310 Brooks Blvd in Manville, NJ. The Funeral service will take place 8:00 AM from the Ketusky Funeral Home followed by a 9:00 AM Mass at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church (Christ the Redeemer Parish) located at 98 South 2nd Ave in Manville, NJ. Burial will be private.
