Mary Elizabeth Masi passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas after a recent illness.

She was born on October 16, 1937, in Trenton, New Jersey to the late Reverend Samuel Edward and Mary Alida Loveland Arendt.

She grew up in the Trenton area and her family eventually moved to Noxen, Pennsylvania where she helped her mother raise her younger brothers and sisters in her youth. She was an accomplished seamstress and musician, proficient in multiple instruments and played them in her parents' church with her siblings. She graduated from Lake-Noxen High School in Noxen, Pennsylvania and received her B.S.N. degree in Nursing from Wilkes University College of Nursing. Mary served 24 years in the Civil Service as a nurse in various locations, most of them were at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City, Louisiana. In 1964, she married Colonel Victor Anthony Masi, D.D.S. in Niagara Falls, New York, and Air Force Life took them and their three children Don, Chris, and Sharon to San Antonio, Ohio, Germany, and Louisiana. She attended all of the kids' sports and gymnastics/ballet/piano events and spent countless hours behind the scenes sewing team uniforms and outfits, and was the team and home room mother to many of the kids' sports teams and school classes. After her retirement from nursing in 1998, she moved from Louisiana to San Antonio to be closer to family, and she spent her remaining years devoting her time to her five grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Colonel Victor Anthony Masi, D.D.S., her siblings Samuel Arendt, Jr., Ruth Arendt, and Jessie Pealer, and her nephew Corporal Elias Benson Pealer, Jr.

She is survived by her son Donald Masi of San Antonio; her son and daughter-in-law Dr. Christopher and Barbara Masi of Pflugerville; her daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Kris Ward of San Antonio; and her grandchildren Brandon Masi of Pflugerville; Meredith Masi of Galveston; Erica Masi of College Station; Collin Ward of San Antonio; Kyle Ward of San Antonio; and her siblings John Arendt (Carol) of Carbondale, PA; Stephen Arendt of Leawood, KS; David Arendt (Shelby) of South Abington Township, PA; her sister Esther Smith (Wade) of Dunnellon, FL; and many nieces and nephews.

Mary will be buried on October 7, 2021 at a family graveside service at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas.
