Stevie Spiars Poppelz, 95, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2008, in Bartlett, Texas.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2008, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Providence Funeral Home Chapel. Celebration of Life Services will be held on Monday, September 15, 2008, at 3:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Granger. Burial at Macedonia Cemetery.

She was born on May 31, 1913, in Granger, Texas, to John and Mae Beard Spiars. Stevie married Walter A. Poppelz on April 9,1937.

Stevie is preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Burnice, Jessie, Myron, Deward, and Colonel Spiars. Stevie is survived by one sister Hortense Bartz of Austin, three daughters, Modene Marek and husband Victor of Schwertner, Roxanne Adams and husband Greg of Cedar Park, and Jeanne Dillard of Holland. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Stevie was employed at Taylor Bedding for over 50 years. She also delivered medications to the nursing homes in the Granger and Barlett area. She was very proud of working up in to her 80's. [Published in the Austin American-Statesman on 9/14/2008.]
