Benjamin F. Slingland, 80, of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away Friday, April 13, 2018 in St. Lukes Hospital-Warren Campus. Born November 13, 1937 in Easton, PA, he was a son of the late Western Slingland, Sr. and Mildred Slingland Johnson Berger. He retired as a conductor from Norfolk Southern Railroad, formerly Conrail, where he was employed for over 37 years. Benjamin attended Easton High School and served with the Navy during the Korean War. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching football, traveling, going camping, boating and to horseraces. Surviving are two daughters, Leanne Frinzi and her husband Dominick, of Pen Argyl, and Patricia Snyder and her husband Kevin, of Nazareth; a son, Frank C. Slingland and his wife Beth Ann, of Alpha, NJ; six sisters, Margie Yeager, of Phillipsburg, NJ, Dorothy Miller and Geraldine McCullen, both of Easton and Judy Slingland, of Bangor, Sara Weidman, of Arizona and Eva Southam, of Bath; nine grandchildren, Jeff, Justin, Adam, Sara, Mark, Rhonda, Korin, Ashlee and Jason; and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Western Slingland, Jr., and two sisters, Betty Hendricks and Irene Gilbert.
