Born in Newry, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Ralph J. and Nora Herron Hite.

She received her elementary education at St. Patrick Parochial School in Newry, and graduated from Mount Aloysius Academy, Cresson, Pa., in 1932.

She entered the Sisters of Mercy at Dallas in 1932 and received the name Sister Simeon and later returned to her baptismal name.

She made her profession of vows on March 12, 1934.

Sister Rose Mary earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in social studies and English from College Misericordia (now Misericordia University) and taught for 40 years in the parochial schools of the Altoona-Johnstown and Pittsburgh dioceses.

In 1977, Sister Rose Mary enrolled in the Clinical Pastoral Education Program at Altoona Hospital and served as a pastoral assistant in pastoral ministry programs at Butler Hospital, St. Anthony Parish, Johnstown, and the hospice program in Altoona.

In 1985, she moved to McAuley Hall and served on the staff in various capacities.

From 1997 to 2002, she volunteered as a receptionist at the Carmelite Monastery in Loretto.

Sister Rose Mary entered the Prayer Ministry at Mercy Center in 2003.
