Since his wife Evalyn Shew was listed as Head of Household in the 1840 census in Hartland, Livingston Co, Michigan, it might be safe to assume that her husband Solomon Foster Sr had died here between 1837-1840, according to Sophie Dunham Moore in her 1933 book " Jacob Dunham (1727-1779) of Lebanon, Conn. and Mayfield, N.Y. : his descendants and ancestors with five generations of English ancestors : also ancestors and descendants of Stephen Shew with historical accounts of the Shews, Sammons, and Dunhams"
