Burt was born in Grand Forks, ND on January 31, 1936, a birthday that he proudly shared with his Uncle Carl. He was the middle child of John and Ethel Lammey Adair, with an older sister, Jacqueline and a younger brother, Alan. He grew up on the family farm north of East Grand Forks, MN.

Burt graduated from East Grand Forks Senior High School in 1954. He went to Florida and worked for his Uncle Carl and other jobs before enlisting in the Army in 1958. He went to basic training, then came home and married his sweetheart, Elenore Neil, December 26, 1958. The Army sent them to New Jersey and California and then he was sent overseas to Korea for a year.

When he got out of the Army, he worked at American Crystal Sugar in East Grand Forks until he was hired at Northern States Power Company in Grand Forks, ND and then was transferred to Fargo, ND in 1970. He and Elenore made their home in Moorhead, MN.

Burt was a man of many talents and loved to read westerns. He had a motorcycle when he was younger and he and a bunch of friends formed a club called the Green Dragons. Whenever us kids had a question, we knew he would be able to help us—as long as we had a half hour to hear his answer. He was a very patient and loving grandpa, willing to help the grandkids with any project, even if he was the one that did all the work! He loved to hold and be around his great-grandchildren.

Burt is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elenore; son, John Adair, Fargo, ND, and two daughters, Sherry Lien, Barnesville, MN and Michele Dave Sherman, Moorhead, MN; 6 grandchildren, Nichole Dele Palmer-George, Joseph Nicole Lien, Sierra Lien, Eric Adair, Kalli Sherman and Samantha Sherman; 3 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother.
