and was reunited with her youngest son Jay, her oldest brother Robert Atkins, sister Phyllis Bennett, and her parents Ernest R. & Anna (Owen) Atkins. Her family takes comfort that she no longer has to suffer anymore after years of poor health.

Janet was born on July 6, 1934 in Marion, Indiana. She graduated from Van Buren High School in 1952. She married Jerry L. Nelson on Sept 4, 1955. They were married 55 years.

Her children hit the jackpot when it came to mothers. She supported them unconditionally in everything they did. She was the first one up and the last one to go to bed. Janet was down to earth and didn't like to be in the spotlight. Janet was a hardworking farmers wife who could put the animals back in when they got out, sold milk and eggs from the family farm and was well know for her famous homemade noodles and angel food cakes. She could cook like no other, making most meals from scratch. She enjoyed watching her kids and grandkids at the Grant County Fair.
Janet worked at Indiana Bell from 1954-1955 and at Taylor University from 1991-2000 when she suffered a brain aneurysm. Janet was a loyal friend and Christian woman, attending Jefferson Christian Church for many years and Red River Community Church. The family would like to thank al her care givers over the years especially Irene Nelson, Joni Glover, and Millers's Merry Manor in Hartford City.
