Joseph C. Westerfield, 79, of Henderson died Monday in a local hospice. He was born Sept. 17, 1919, in Globe, Ariz. A resident for one year and a former resident of Owensboro, Ky., for 53 years, he was an executive manager for Green River Steel Corp. for 30 years, an employee at the L&N Railroad, DC Trucking, A&H Truck Line, was a World War II Navy veteran, testified for the U.S. Supreme Court for establishment and validation for interstate transportation rates, past president of the Owensboro Transportation Club and the Green River Steel Management Club, a member of Windridge Country Club and Owensboro Lodge 130 F&AM and on the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. He is survived by his wife, Anna M.; and one daughter, Janice Hatcher of Henderson; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation is scheduled noon-1 p.m Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.
