Anthony J. "Tony" Benicewicz Sr., age 101, of Danbury, Connecticut passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021.

Anthony J Benicewicz Sr, 101, of Danbury, passed away on October 10th 2021 in Norwalk. Tony was born in Danbury Connecticut to Andrew and Joanna Cwilikiewicz Benicewicz on August 24, 1920.

He went to school in Danbury Ct. Tony was drafted in the US Army in 1943 and received an Honorable Discharge. He started out his working career in the McLoughlan hat shops.

After the Second World War, Tony and his brother Ed bought the Danbury Rug Works which he operated with his brother and son AJ until Ed passed in 1980, and from then on it was a Father/son operation and Tony worked until he was 85 and only retired to care for his wife Marie. He married Marie Patton Benicewicz on November 11, 1947, in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Danbury Ct. He was a lifetime member of the Elk's Lodge in Danbury Connecticut, and a life long member of Sacred Heart church in Danbury. In his free time Tony enjoyed the girls UConn husky basketball, loved the Yankees, and enjoyed watching his grandson Andy play semi-pro football. He enjoyed going to his seaside home in Ocean Grove New Jersey and out swimming the lifeguards. Tony thoroughly enjoyed being surrounded by his family and loved ones and will be missed dearly. Tony is preceded in death by his beloved wife Marie Benicewicz, his daughter Anne Keenan, an infant son, his brothers Vinny Benicewicz, Edward Benicewicz, sisters Helen Burns and Franny Wilks, and a young sister Jane Anna Benicewicz. Tony is survived by his son Andrew Benicewicz and wife Linda of Danbury, his son AJ Benicewicz and his wife Pat of Danbury, his son-in-law Walter Keenan of New Fairfield and his partner Susan, his grandson Andy Benicewicz and his wife Debbie of Dallas Texas, grand-daughter Jaime Lilley and her husband Keith of Danbury, his grandsons Matthew and Nicholas of Danbury, his grandson Jacob and his wife Ashlyn of West Virginia, his grand-daughter Stefania Bouwmeester and her husband Billy of Danbury, his granddaughter Genna Keenan and her partner Ben Lynch of Baltimore, his grandson Adam Keenan and partner Amber of Colorado, and great-grandchildren Cameron, Derek, Addy, Will Jr. and Rebel, and many nieces and nephews. Tony passed away on the 73rd Anniversary of his own father's death. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 in the morning, Friday October 15th, 2021 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, on Cottage Street in Danbury. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery in Danbury. Arrangements are by Green Funeral Home. Calling hours will be Thursday, October 14,2021 from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Danbury Connecticut.
