Raye, 74, of Denver, North Carolina, gained her angel wings on October 8, 2021, at Novant Health in Huntersville, North Carolina.
Raye was preceded in death by her soulmate of 23 years, Roger Watson-Smyth; her parents, James Morris Baucom and Ruby Elmira Lewis; and brother, Bobby Morris Baucom.
Left to cherish her memory are: son, Wayne Elliott (Shelley), granddaughter, Chelsey Sowell (Josh), great-grandson Tripp, granddaughter, Cassidy Hamilton (Cody) and great-granddaughter, Hadley, coming January 2022; daughter, Debbie Elliott Glenn (Jay) and special grand-pup Abby; daughter, Angie Morgan (Terry), grandson, Matthew Morgan, and granddaughter, Taylor Morgan; daughter, Tammie Anaya (Santi), granddaughter, Lindsay Flynn (Kyle), great-granddaughters, Isabella Holland and Scarlett Flynn, great-grandson, Kyle Flynn, II, grandson, Justin Kolasinski and granddaughter, Peyton Anaya.
Raye loved her family. She was a great activist and servant for her Country and for her Community. Her father was a Charlotte Police Officer and that is what instilled in her the passion to support Law Enforcement and all First Responders. She was a true Patriot and believed in the Freedom of Speech. She was a born leader. Raye was proud to serve on the Board as Vice President of the East Lincoln Fire Department. She served on the Executive Board of the Lincoln County GOP and was honored with the Republican of the Year Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award. She was a longtime member of the Lincoln County Republic of Women and was currently serving as Vice President. Raye was a founding member of the East Lincoln Christmas Parade and member of ELBA. One year into her role as President of the East Lincoln Red Hatters Club she led them to win Best Float in the Christmas Parade. She was a member of the VFW and served on the Lincoln County Board of Adjustment. Raye graduated from Harding High School Class of 1965 and loved planning the Annual Class Reunion.
Serving as pallbearers are Justin Kolasinski, Eric Boling, Vernon Stottlemeyer, Doug Rohr, Danny Hester, Jeff Pariano. Serving as honorary pallbearers are the East Lincoln Fire Department and Carrol Mitchem.
Visitation will be at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, North Carolina from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2021. Viewing from 10-10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2021, with service to follow at Salem United Methodist Church, Denver, North Carolina.
