Fletta Lawanda Aaron, 78, of West Frankfort, passed away at 10:16 PM, Friday, February 12, 2010 at her home.

Fletta was born on September 5, 1931 in Franklin County to Charlie & Martha (Sweet) Gossage. She married Luther L. Aaron on July 17, 1958 in Johnston City. He preceded her in death on November 14, 2004.

Fletta worked as a RN at Herrin Hospital for several years, but retired as a machine line operator at Smoler Brothers in Herrin. She was a member of the Illinois Ladies Garment Workers Union and enjoyed craftwork such as crocheting, quilting, and embroidery. She made many dresses, baby quilts and sweaters.

Survivors include-

Son- Theron Dale Aaron and wife LeAnn of West Frankfort
Grandson- Daniel Jackson Aaron of Marion
Granddaughter- Amber Marie Aaron of West Frankfort
Niece- Kathleen Woodcock and husband Art of Herrin
Nephew- Riley Lee Anderson of Herrin
Several great nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers- Riley and Arley Gossage, sister- Verla Mae Anderson and one nephew- Arley Marvin Gossage.

The funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm, Monday, February 15, 2010 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Don Colson will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 pm until time of service Monday at the funeral home.
