Gustaf Abraham, 1911-2007
In memory of our wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Gustaf Abraham passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on February 1, 2007 at age 95.
Gus was born in Walneska, Russia on February 16, 1911, and came to the US with his family at age one. He grew up in Portland and attended Benson High School. His retirement years were spent at Fishhawk Lake near Birkenfeld, Oregon. He worked and met his future bride at Montgomery Ward where he was shipping supervisor for 34 years. In 1934, Gus married the love of his life, Lucille, who pre-deceased him in 2001 after 66 years of marriage
Gus was a man of all trades; he loved working with his hands and could build, remodel, or fix anything. He enjoyed the outdoors and being active. His favorite pastime was attending athletic events and activities for his children, grandchildren, and great-children. He is survived by his son, Jon; daughter, Paulina, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He taught us life's lessons by his example of kindness, honesty, and hard work. We admire him and will miss him always.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, February 11, 2007, 3:00 pm, at Rose City Cemetery.
